TIPS TO PREVENT THE COLD

When winter approaches and temperatures begin to drop, many people decide to park their motorcycles for a few months.

Today we want to give some tips to motorcycle lovers to prevent the cold and not to put aside their passion, despite the change of season.

To begin with, we must assume that we are going to have a little cold, but our intention is to minimize it as much as possible. In fact, there are different options to avoid that feeling, although the most effective will always be to get a good motorcycle gear.

The first tip to consider is to wear several layers of clothing, to prevent cold air from entering the body.

We must think about what type of trip we are going to do. If we are going to take the motorcycle to go to work, perhaps it is not very practical to put many layers together, while, if we are thinking of taking a long trip, any precaution may seem little.

It is advisable to use about three layers: for example, a thermal shirt, a second that can be a fleece, sweater or sweatshirt and finally the outer layer, which would be the jacket. There is a wide variety of winter motorcycle jackets and many of them have a removable or fixed thermal lining, which is responsible for maintaining body heat.

We also have to think about the pants, gloves, the helmet and the visor of this, which is responsible for protecting our face from the cold and gusts of wind, also if the visor has the Pinlock anti-fog system, it will not mist and we will avoid having to open it, thus avoiding the cold wind in the face.

To protect your legs from the cold, the best option will be to wear motorcycle pants that have a thermal lining incorporated or, if you prefer something cheaper, a waterproof and windbreaker over pant, which you can easily wear over the regular pants whenever you want.

Anyway, the head is one of the critical places when we talk about motorcycle protection. In the winter season, it is one of the points that we have to value the most, since a lot of temperature is lost through the head and, in addition, there is the possibility that fog is generated on our helmet visor.

The neck is the great forgotten and really requires special attention, since a bad insulation of this part of the body will allow cold air to enter into the jacket. For this reason, the most basic thing to combat the cold in the head while riding a motorcycle is to wear a full-face helmet with Pinlock system and a thermal neck warmer. Oh... and don't forget to button up your jacket completely.

Another forgotten area is the feet and ankles. Leather boots are almost mandatory or, failing that, footwear that covers your ankle to prevent breakage in case of falls and prevent the entry of air under the pants. To combat the cold you can use thermal socks.

It is also important to use good special gloves for winter, since these have thermal fibers that keep the hand warm and, normally, also have a waterproof membrane to prevent the entry of water. If you have to buy gloves, it is important that you try them on with your jacket, to check that the relationship between the two is adequate. And very important!! remember to warm your hands before putting on the gloves, this simple tip will make your trips more pleasant.

Finally, we recommend that you take a look at some winter accessories like: balaclava, under gloves, thermal clothing, legs cover ... any protection against the cold will help to enjoy your motorcycle, without suffering the bitter cold of winter.
